Damp-proofing and timber treatment in the Forest of Dean and Wye Valley

Special Plastering by Forest Dampbusters

External Rendering – Forest Dampbusters undertake specialist waterproof rendering to all types of property throughout the Forest of Dean and Wye Valley. Our waterproof render system applied to a physical damp-proof membrane which is fitted directly to exposed masonry offers a superior form of external render and provides a damp-proof internal wall as well as giving better insulation due to the air gap behind our damp-proof membrane.

External insulating plaster systems can also be applied which are dual purpose with unique damp-proofing and insulating properties which are particularly suitable for solid walled properties in the Forest of Dean.

We can also apply various different coloured renders all coated with an external water repellent.

All external rendering systems come with a 20 year guarantee against the occurrence of penetrating dampness.

Boarding - Mainly used for ceilings. Involves screwing plasterboard directly to the joists above, can be used as a 'new' ceiling, or used to re-board over an existing one. Can be skimmed onto immediately after application.

Dry Wall Lining – Dry-lining is very popular in the Forest of Dean as it provides a dry, even surface much quicker than have to dub out walls when applying waterproof renders.. Involves either fixing battens to wall and then screwing plasterboard sheets to the battens or ‘dot and dab’ walls with adhesive then fixing plasterboard to the dabs. Very quick and clean way of finishing a wall, can be skimmed onto almost immediately after application.

To give a damp-proof finish and improved thermal performance we also undertake dry-lining walls with a specialist damp-proof membrane fixed to walls which is then overlaid with Larfarge Thermacheck Plasterboard. This system provides a totally damp-free internal wall with a reduced U-value. This substantially reduces heat loss through external walls which leads to lower energy bills for our customers and is calculated to give a total payback of money within 15 years.

Plastering (skimming) - Involves either plastering (skimming) on to a rendered wall, plaster boarded wall or ceiling. Also used to re-skim a previously finished wall ready for fresh decoration. Can be decorated 2-3 days after application.

Coving - Fitting coving around the room, many designs to choose from. Can be decorated 1-2 days after fitting.

As well as the above we also do Floor screeding and Fibrous plastering.
We also do restoration work on Grade 1 & 2 listed buildings this entails lathe & plaster walls/ ceilings, sand & lime render and fibrous mouldings.
